Dare to be Great

Evident by newscasts and by way of the daily papers, we can observed around us a society which have adapted a habit of if it’s too hard then just quit. We have parents who condone giving up amongst their kids. We have educators who talk children out of getting a secondary education simply because they didn’t seem smart enough. There are kids, that when it comes to giving up, they see it as the only way out. Why fight, when all you’re gonna do is lose? Why try again, when you’ve failed so many times? The good thing about trial and error is that no matter how many times you’ve failed, if you can get it right one time, you can stop there. Some people get it right the first time and that’s it for them, others take much longer but if you give up, all that you’ve invested will be lost. Our society is filled with people who have settled for what seems plausible but no one wants the impossible because they know what the impossible requires. Sometimes it demands no sleep, sometimes it asks for friends, sometimes it requires relationships to be sacrificed. It takes from you everything in order to give you everything. The problem is, we don’t see it like this right away…it takes time to get a return on what seems impossible. The Bible tells us in Galatians 6 that if we continue to do what’s necessary and good and if we don’t give up, we will reap what we sow. Nothing is impossible with God. Follow me, if you reap what you sow, then to reap the impossible you must sow the impossible. Now we have to understand that “impossible” is not your point of view, it is the point of view of your friends around you and society that label what you’re trying to accomplish as impossible. The fact that you’re making an attempt should tell you that within yourself, you believe it can be done and you know that the things you need to sow is not impossible like people say, but you know that you can invest what it requires. This is so, that when you do accomplish what people say you couldn’t accomplish, they don’t give you the praise, they give it to God. They do this because all along they knew you couldn’t do it, so if its done, then it must be God. So why wouldn’t God help you to accomplish the impossible? Impossibility is succumbed to by a mind and a heart attitude that simply refuses to try again. Impossibility is laughed at by those who just can’t quit, by those who believe that they are just that close. What people say is impossible, you have the opportunity to change the world by making it possible. Won’t you do it?  Everyone wants to be great, but no one is will to pay for greatness. Greatness costs what it costs, there is no discount on greatness, greatness never goes on sale. Greatness will never be achieved by someone who quits at everything. Greatness cannot bestow itself on someone who goes to and fro, greatness refuses to walk alongside someone who doesn’t know how to appreciate it.  Greatness is always three feet away for the one who simply cannot give up. You can’t stop because it gets hard. You can’t stop because people don’t agree with you. You can’t stop because your family isn’t supporting you. Greatness always finds a way, greatness always has a cause. No matter how many times we’ve failed and fallen short, God promises to restore us. He assures us that His grace is sufficient for us. No matter what difficulty you find yourself in, always know how to find the grace of God in it. Look for those things that have been given to you which you don’t deserve. Thank Him for those things that He’s taken from you simply because they are there to destroy you. That’s why the apostle Paul admonishes us to give thanks in everything because we never know what God is shielding us from and we never know what He’s guiding us to. I told someone this the other day, I said that before we can love anyone, we must first be willing to be hurt by that person and if we are to trust anyone, we must be willing to be deceived by that person. If you are to succeed in anything, you must be willing to fail. Allow failure to drive you and to not discourage you, always try it one more time and don’t give up. You never know on what attempt God will intervene. Proverbs 3:5-6 says…Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.
In all your ways, it means everything you take on, everything you need…just know that He is there and He’s there to help you. Trust Him today, rest in His redemption and Never Ever GIVE UP!
