God says it…so that settles it right?

How many promises are in the Bible. How many times has God said something that He will do for us simply because we are his children? According to bibleinfo.com, one person has it at 3573 but I don’t know how accurate this is and I can almost assure you it could be countless. Throughout the Old and New Testaments, God has fulfilled promises to His children and is still doing it today. So why do we waver when we have an accurate account of God being true to His word? People make promises all the time and it seems to be the best way to reassure the person that you’re gonna do what you say you’re gonna do. When I was a child I heard the saying all the time ” a promise is a comfort to a fool.” We say this because once a promise is given, it should alleviate the pressure being put asserted by the one the promise was made to. It means you are a fool if someone promises you something and you don’t require them to see it through. When we hold God at His word, we just don’t accept what He says, but we also expect Him to make good on His promises. The significance about a promise is that it requires one of two things..either we know the person making the promise or at one time they have proven themselves reliable and trust worthy to us or to someone else we know. Has a stranger ever promised you anything? It feels weird doesn’t it? I for one immediately start thinking….I don’t know you and you don’t know me, you can promise me something but it doesn’t carry much weight. Isn’t good that Jesus knows us and we know Him, isn’t it good that He’s come through for us before? So when He makes a promise, because of His reputation of coming through for us and for others, we can fully place our faith in what He has said. Paul says in 2 Corinthians 1:20……For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” which means “Yes” ascends to God for his glory. A resounding YES, that means He’s doing it over and over and over and over again but how many of us are still waiting on our promises? How many of us are still waiting for that job or house or a husband or wife? How many of you are broken and holding on by your fingertips waiting for what God has promised you? I have news for you…Habakkuk 2:3 says “For the vision is yet for the appointed time; It hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; For it will certainly come, it will not delay (OPB). It’s coming guys, what God has promised you is on it’s way…just hold on a little longer, pray a little longer, praise a little longer and watch Him do it.
